India aims to become a global AI leader by building an AI-ready workforce and expanding its digital economy, said MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan at SIDA Synergy 2025 in Madurai. He highlighted shifting tech growth to tier-2 and tier-3 cities and emphasized retraining the IT workforce in AI, cybersecurity, and blockchain. Krishnan also stressed the role of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and noted the digital economy’s rise from 7% to 13% of GDP, projected to hit 20% by decade’s end. Indo-Dutch ties under the 'WAH!' agenda were also discussed. The conclave marked SIDA’s 15th year, promoting regional tech entrepreneurship.
