The Velammal Medical College campus in Madurai will feature Tamil Nadu’s second-largest cricket stadium, next only to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. This development will serve as another international landmark for Madurai.

Now, the Madurai Velammal Group, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and the Madurai District Cricket Association (MDCA), is constructing an international-standard cricket stadium on the Velammal Medical College campus.

The highlight of this stadium is its distinction as the second-largest cricket venue in Tamil Nadu with a roofed gallery, following Chepauk Stadium.

• • .Field Dimensions: The stadium features a boundary of 75 metres from the centre and a total of 9 pitches.
  • .Northern Side: Air-conditioned VVIP galleries with a seating capacity of 800 people and a dedicated pavilion for players.
  • .Permanent Galleries: Rooftop galleries for spectators are under construction on the south and west sides.
    • .Phase 1: 7,000 seats.
    • .Future Phases: To be upgraded to a capacity of 20,000 seats.
    • .Rain-Ready Design: Advanced drainage facilities ensure the ground is ready for play within 30 minutes of rain, minimizing interruptions.
