Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate three new Vande Bharat Express trains, including the Madurai – Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, via video conference at 12:30 PM on August 31, 2024(Saturday).
The three new trains are:
.Madurai – Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express
.Chennai – Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express
.Meerut – Lucknow Vande Bharat Express
The new Vande Bharat trains are set to enhance connectivity and boost religious tourism in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The Madurai Junction – Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express will connect the temple city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu with the tech hub of Bengaluru, with stops at Dindigul, Tiruchirapalli, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, and Krishnarajapuram. Operating six days a week, the train will cover 573 km (356 mi) in 7 hours and 45 minutes, averaging a speed of 74 km/h.
Tentative Timetable:
.From Madurai: Departs at 5:15 AM, arrives at SMVT Bengaluru at 1:15 PM
.From Bengaluru: Departs at 1:45 PM, arrives in Madurai at 10:25 PM
Stoppages include Dindigul, Tiruchirapalli, Karur, and Salem. Additional stops at Namakkal and KR Puram are under consideration.
